Homeschool student asks Gloversville board to allow walking at 2025 graduation

I have all of the required testing for my IHIP.”
Board policy was cited by the speaker as allowing alternative testing under an approved IHIP; the student said that policy language supports participation. She described personal ties to classmates — attending prom, choir and sporting events — and said inclusion would validate the work she completed privately. “I just feel as a society, we should pursue inclusivity and not make people feel divided when we don’t have to,” she said.
The board did not take action on the request during the meeting. The speaker made the remarks during the public comment period; no board vote or staff directive resolving the request was recorded in the meeting transcript.
The student’s comments are part of public comment for the board’s June meeting; any follow-up or final decision would require separate board action or administrative response.
