Hyde Park reports 2025-26 budget passes; diesel bus replacement approved, electric-bus measure fails

The Hyde Park Central School District Board of Education accepted the official results of the district budget and three ballot propositions at its May 20 meeting, the chair announced.

District staff read the results for the three propositions. The 2025-26 budget (Proposition 1) was reported as passed. The diesel bus replacement plan (Proposition 2) was reported as passed. A proposal to purchase electric buses (Proposition 3) was reported as failed. The results were read aloud during the meeting and the board voted to accept the vote totals.

The board did not discuss further policy changes or next steps for vehicle procurement during the meeting; the staff member who read the tallies presented the figures and the board moved to accept the results. There was a motion to accept the reported results, moved by Katie and seconded by Christine; the board voted “Aye” and the motion carried. No additional debate about the propositions occurred on the public record during the meeting.
