Plano officials said an asphalt overlay project on Hedgecokes Road is nearing completion, and that the next overlay slated is on Parker Road between Parkwood and Preston.
In the city’s weekly newscast, Steve Stoler said overlays provide a smoother and quieter ride and prevent water penetration that can lead to roadway damage. “Using overlays saves the city millions of dollars in repair costs,” Stoler said.
City spokespeople typically describe overlays as a pavement-preservation technique that extends the usable life of a road and can reduce the need for more costly reconstruction. Stoler identified Hedgecokes Road as nearing completion and named Parker Road, between Parkwood and Preston, as the next stretch planned for overlay work.
Residents with questions about specific timelines or traffic impacts were directed to consult city public works announcements for scheduling and detour information.
