Jefferson County committee approves sending final report exhibits to administration, seeks staff feedback within two weeks

A Jefferson County committee voted unanimously Wednesday to transmit Exhibit A and Exhibit B of its final report to county administration and asked staff to return feedback within two weeks.

The committee chair opened the item, and Committee Member A moved to forward the two exhibits to the administration and report back; Committee Member B seconded the motion. Committee members then clarified the two‑week timeframe and voted “aye.”

The committee discussed whether the panel would disband once the county council receives its final report. The chair said the committee’s work should end on council receipt of the final report, noting that “this will be our final report after, and we approve what goes for the council.” Committee members said they had sought guidance from the county attorney about the disbanding process and any amendment procedures; one member said the attorney confirmed the procedure and offered guidance on how to propose amendments.

Members agreed the next step was to give administration two weeks to provide written feedback on the exhibits; if no feedback is received, the committee will proceed with its own discussion and next steps. One committee member requested that the response come “within 2 weeks from tonight.” The group then discussed scheduling a follow‑up meeting for a Wednesday at 3 p.m. approximately two weeks after the vote to review staff comments and finalize recommendations to forward to the county council.

Committee members also recorded a separate motion later in the meeting to approve outstanding items on the agenda before adjourning. The chair declared the meeting adjourned after that motion passed.
