Pike County Fiscal Court on May 21 was told that a May 20 bid opening for the Pike County Landfill Phase 6 construction project returned zero bids. County staff said KRS 45A.375 allows a local government to proceed to acquire a contractor by noncompetitive negotiation when a public solicitation yields no bids.

Staff told the court they are proceeding under that statute to secure a contractor and hope to complete negotiations soon. The court did not take further action beyond authorizing staff to pursue noncompetitive procurement steps per state law.

Officials said they will continue to follow state procurement rules while attempting to move the landfill expansion project forward to meet operational needs.
