Pulaski County Fiscal Court voted to advertise public hearings next month for two road-system actions: removing Jerry Lane from the county maintenance system and taking Dogwood Lane into the system. The court also voted not to pursue adding Yellowstone Road because it does not meet current requirements, and agreed to inspect Linwood Road, a sparsely traveled route proposed for removal.
County staff told the court Linwood Road covers about 3,872 feet, runs to a farm and a local cemetery, and in part extends into Casey County; commissioners agreed to inspect the segment before further action. Commissioner Ranshaw said Jerry Lane was petitioned for removal by the sole resident on the road and requested a public hearing to move that process forward. Dogwood Lane was described as an existing blacktop road that meets county standards for maintenance and therefore qualifies for inclusion.
On Yellowstone Road, staff and commissioners said it is a gravel road that does not meet the county's current standards for acceptance into the maintenance system; the court voted not to proceed on that road. The court directed staff to post the public-hearing notices for Jerry Lane's removal and for Dogwood Lane's inclusion in the county-maintained road system.
What the court voted: motions to advertise public hearings on Jerry Lane (removal) and on Dogwood Lane (addition) were made and seconded on the record and passed; a separate motion that Yellowstone Road does not meet county requirements also passed. The court will publish hearing notices and follow the established public-notice process before final decisions.
Implication: If Jerry Lane is removed from the county-maintained system, maintenance responsibility would shift away from county crews; if Dogwood Lane is accepted, the county would assume maintenance under current standards. Commissioners emphasized site inspections and public notice before final determinations.
