The Finance Administration Committee adopted updates to the borough’s fee schedule, including a new registration requirement for food-truck vendors, and forwarded the change as reflected in Resolution 2025-13 on June 24.
Bureau Manager Maggie Dobbs said the registration mirrors the contractor registration process: it ensures the borough has a certificate of insurance on file and that a food truck’s presence on borough streets or parks would generally be reviewed as part of special-event permitting. “So for the food truck vendor registration, this is something that we're implementing for any food truck operating in the borough, and we are keeping the registration fee the same as what we charge for residential contractors,” Dobbs said.
During discussion, committee members asked whether ice-cream trucks fall under the new registration; staff said ice-cream trucks operate differently (driving and stopping briefly rather than parking and running a generator) and, as drafted, were not included in the food-truck registration requirement. Staff noted such vendors are expected to comply with business privilege tax rules if they operate more than 15 business days.
The committee approved the fee schedule update by voice vote, 3–0. Staff said event placement and street use by food trucks will continue to be reviewed as part of special-event permitting and that the registration is intended primarily to ensure insurance documentation is on file.
