The Southington School District Board of Education approved a three-year contract for rubbish removal and recycling services and received updates on renovation and lease activity for a new school site.

The finance committee reported it received four bids on bid 2026‑O2 for rubbish removal and recommended awarding the contract to CWPM LLC for three years. Committee representatives said the lowest responsive bid was higher than past pricing and that the district will need to reallocate funds in the fall to cover the increased contract cost. The full board voted to award the bid during the meeting.

Separately, the administration reported it had signed a lease for a new seller location and had awarded renovation work to Acorn Builders in the amount of $99,500, approved under the superintendent’s authority because of tight timing to complete the work for fall occupancy. The lease includes a five‑year term with an option for a five‑year renewal.

Board members asked questions about timing and fund impact; the finance committee said it will return in the fall with more complete budget adjustments. No additional motions were required at the meeting beyond the contract award and routine updates.
