The Coachella Valley Unified School District Board of Education approved the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for 2025‑26 and the related federal addendum at its June 26 meeting.
Bridal Ulloa of Alianza Coachella Valley addressed the board during public comment to thank trustees for preserving funding for restorative justice (RJ) implementation and training. ‘‘The district's continued investment in this work reflects a strong commitment to creating supportive, inclusive school environments for all students,’’ she said, and described specific practices she said were integrated this year: ‘‘daily SEL lessons for elementary schools that are culturally competent and bilingual, weekly SEL lessons for middle and high school students, and, my favorite, the monthly principal meetings to support the tier 3 youth with regular check ins.’’
On the action calendar the board moved, seconded and adopted the LCAP and the federal addendum; the vote was recorded as in favor. Board members and public speakers framed the LCAP as the district’s principal accountability document for what the district is doing and not doing for students; several trustees praised improvements in the collaboration and communication that shaped this year’s plan.
The district will proceed to implement the LCAP goals for 2025‑26, including supports for social‑emotional learning and restorative approaches, and will report program performance as required by state law and local procedures.
