The Bedford City School District board recognized Glendale Elementary on June 26 after the school received the state of Ohio’s PBIS bronze award for the 2023–24 school year.
An unidentified district representative introduced the recognition and said Lindale (Glendale) submitted an application and learned in January 2025 that it was the first Bedford City school to receive the PBIS bronze award. Miss Seawit, who accepted the award on behalf of Glendale, described the school’s emphasis on positive behavior supports, restorative problem solving and parent communication tools. “We transitioned to ClassDojo so that those points are not only being recognized by the students, but they go directly home to the parents too,” she said.
Seawit credited staff leaders — Angelique Lipford, Andrea Hotez and Meg Ryan — for implementing the Tiered Fidelity Inventory work and said the school sent home 41,000 ClassDojo points in the school year and issued about 70 positive referrals. Board members praised Glendale’s approach to supporting students and noted that FBA (functional behavior assessment) is a Tier‑3 intervention to address intensive student behavior needs.
The recognition was a ceremonial item on the agenda; board members offered congratulations and no formal action was required.
