The Avon Town Council on June 26 approved a $12,500 quote to purchase a Buffalo Turbine Cyclone KD7 debris blower used to clear town trails and public spaces.
Ryan presented the item on behalf of Parks staff, noting repeated repairs and a shop assessment that the existing unit’s engine was failing. Ryan said the new unit comes with a manufacturer warranty and a three-year engine warranty; because the town’s existing unit had been in service longer than the warranty period, it was not covered. Staff recommended awarding the quote to “Bob Catavindi” for $12,500 for the Buffalo Turbine Cyclone KD7.
Council members asked whether the vendor offered any trade-in value. Staff said the vendor would accept the old unit but would not give monetary trade-in credit; the town intends to keep the old blower for parts. Ryan told the council the new model’s components are largely transferable, which should reduce future parts costs.
A council member moved to award the quote for the debris blower as presented; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
