At the June workshop, staff asked the Smyrna Town Council to add to the July agenda a three‑year lease authorization allowing the mayor to execute a lease with the Rutherford County Board of Education for the practice field area behind Smyrna Elementary School.

Mike (staff member) told council the leased property includes about 35 acres east and behind the school, and that the town maintains the fields for youth leagues and other users. He said the town maintains mowing and routine upkeep and that leagues help with cleanup. Council members asked practical questions about restroom access; Mike said leagues typically provide porta‑potties on site and that a soccer group uses one existing restroom.

The workshop recorded no final approval; staff requested the lease be placed on the July meeting agenda for formal action.
