Staff reports list recent groundbreakings, openings and capital improvements across Volusia County

County staff updated the ECHO committee on recent project groundbreakings and openings, including the Dee Ranch Preserve nature center, the hub on Canal, marine science center, All Children's Park surface, Mary McLeod Bethune Home reopening, and other local projects.
ECHO staff told the advisory committee about multiple recent and upcoming project milestones across Volusia County.
Dan, an ECHO staff member, reported that the county recently held groundbreakings for the Dee Ranch Preserve and Nature Center and for the Hub on Canal, and that the marine science center officially opened during the week. He said a ribbon-cutting or celebration for the marine science center may be scheduled at a later date.
Staff also reported that All Children's Park installed a new pour-and-play surface, bringing that project into compliance; the Mary McLeod Bethune Home will reopen with an official grand opening on July 10 (the date falls on the advisory committee's next meeting); the Little Theater's LED video wall is almost complete; and City of South Daytona's Reed Canal prehistoric play exhibit (including an imported giant sloth) has arrived. Additional capital work mentioned included improvements at the AgCenter and updates at the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve Doane property.
No committee action was taken on these project updates; staff presented the items for information and said they would keep the committee apprised of celebration dates and project completions.
