Members of the Health, Welfare & Recreation Committee on June 26 discussed outreach and promotion around the Coffee County Fair, now scheduled in August, and plans to increase publicity for the county museum.
Why it matters: the fair and museum are local recreation and historical assets that involve 4‑H and other community organizations; scheduling and promotion affect participation and volunteer coordination.
A committee member told the group, "I feel like I should bring up the Coffee County Fair is in August now," and members agreed it would be useful to invite Amy Willis or another 4‑H representative to present at the July meeting. Committee members noted the move to August was driven by the company that provides fair rides and that the new date places the Coffee County Fair before the Warren County Fair.
On the museum, committee member Jackie said she wanted to "stir up an interest for the county museum" and asked the committee to place the museum on a future agenda so she could share materials she can contribute. Committee members agreed to follow up with the fair board and with Amy Willis and to place both items on next month’s agenda.
Ending: The committee set a tentative next meeting for July 24 and asked members to contact fair-board representatives and the 4‑H office so the invited presenters can attend.
