The Water Resources Board approved a task order not to exceed $37,910 for SSR to assist staff in investigating replacement options for the plant’s oxidizing/solids-generation (OSG) units.
Staff reported the existing OSG units are about 18 years old while cell life expectancy is typically around 15 years. Parts have become scarcer and replacement cell costs have risen from roughly $50,000 to $90,000 per cell in recent years, staff said. SSR will help the city evaluate three manufacturers, including the city’s current supplier, to determine replacement options and specifications.
Valerie (Staff member) said the work will include visiting manufacturers and evaluating equipment; she described the task order amount as not to exceed $37,910. The item had been presented to city council for a first reading, staff said, and the board approved the SSR task order. The board recorded the motion, second, and a voice vote in favor.
