Board authorizes $452,500 task order to design next sewer rehab project

The Water Resources Board on May 27 approved a task order request for $452,500 to fund design work for the next sewer rehabilitation project.
Valerie (Staff member) told the board that the HOBOS rehab project and the regular sewer-rehab project are nearing completion and that staff identified additional priority segments needing rehabilitation. She said Operations & Maintenance provided a prioritized list to the design consultant so the next project can be designed and bid for construction during the drier months this summer and fall.
Valerie said the task order will be funded from Water Resources working capital reserves. The board voted to approve the task order amendment; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff said the design will include segments that were not included in the current construction projects and emphasized the programmatic need to sequence design to take advantage of dry-weather construction windows. The task order supports continuing the city’s multi-year sewer-rehab program, which staff said focuses on highest-priority segments identified through CCTV inspections and the recently approved asset-management process.
