"He was mentioning that because we had not adopted a resolution, supporting DOD, the DOSH, that, it it could put our projects at risk," the city manager said.
Council members identified specific projects they sought to protect in the budget: a fire boat, a water-damming system, and stormwater retention work at Hopkins Park. Council members said the administration and lobbyist had been actively pursuing the appropriations in Tallahassee and that filing the resolution would allow the lobbyist to proceed.
The council moved to approve the resolution; the motion passed on a roll call vote of 5-0. The city manager said, if approved, staff would send the resolution to the lobbyist that evening and provide state officials with requested city information.
