Parma Board Approves Intent to Exchange Renwood Parcel with City of Parma for Recreation, Possible Maintenance Site

The Parma City School District Board of Education voted to adopt a resolution of intent to exchange real property with the City of Parma, a move district leaders said supports local planning and facilities needs.
"This is Renwood for a parcel to our west here at Normandy," a district official said during discussion of resolution 2025-06-287. The official told the board the city is coordinating with the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District to fund improvements on the site. The official said the property is intended for recreational use, not low-income housing, and that the district will maintain an existing playground there.
The official also said the district would acquire a separate parcel that could accommodate a maintenance shed; that shed would help the district move some central office maintenance functions from Parma Park to Arlington. "We will pick up a nice parcel here, certainly, as we turn over ... that's a nice piece of property where we can currently envision a potential maintenance shed," the official said.
The board made a formal motion to adopt resolution 2025-06-287 and approved it by roll call. The resolution was presented as an intent to exchange and several legal and technical steps remain, the official said: "This still has some i's to dot and some t's to cross just in terms of legal ease, but we felt it was important for the city's planning purposes to actually memorialize our intent."
No zoning change, final purchase price or detailed timeline for site improvements were provided at the meeting. Board members who voted in favor were recorded in the meeting roll call and the resolution was approved.
