Committee endorses Angela Holmes as Westmoreland library director candidate

The Sumner County Library Personnel Committee voted Thursday to forward Angela Holmes’ candidacy for Westmoreland library director to the full library board for consideration.

Committee members said Holmes’s Westmoreland roots and return to the community, combined with library experience and demonstrated leadership, made her the preferred candidate for the Westmoreland branch. The panel discussed an alternate finalist, Kyle, who is pursuing an MLS and was characterized as energetic and committed.

Committee members recounted that Holmes grew up in Westmoreland, gained experience elsewhere, and returned to raise her children and work locally. Members said that background and a steady, adaptable leadership style would help the smaller Westmoreland branch sustain and expand community services. The committee also noted Kyle’s pursuit of a master’s in library science and his leadership qualities as strengths.

A motion to forward Holmes’s name to the full Sumner County Library Board was made and seconded; the committee announced the motion passed.

The forwarded nomination will be considered by the full library board; no final hiring decision was made at the personnel committee meeting.
