Board approves $166,452 change order for courthouse project to address unforeseen work

The Boone County Board approved change order number 3 for the courthouse construction project Thursday, in the amount of $166,452, to address items discovered during ongoing work.
Marco San Roman of Sabela Group Architects outlined the items prompting the change order: additional metal studs and gypsum board to conceal electrical conduits in the CASA area, replacement of existing window sills to match new walls, and a realization that the existing electrical service will not be adequate and may require a new 600-amp panel. The team also recommended additional card readers to improve security throughout the building.
Randy Darnell of CCS said his team performed a preliminary review and found the items to be predominantly unforeseen or requested by the sheriff’s office; CCS will complete a final cost verification before the change order is finalized. The board approved the change order by roll call; the motion noted the approval was subject to final CCS review.
The change order will be managed through the project team and returned for any additional approvals if costs or scope change beyond the amount approved.
