Boone County approved an AIA contract Thursday with Scandroli Construction for the health department administration campus remodel and expansion, and separately approved a lease amendment and moving services to temporarily relocate the department.
County staff presented the Scandroli AIA contract for $4,211,106 as the bid price including two alternates; staff said Scandroli has submitted a list of value-engineering items totaling about $224,000 in potential deductions and that further reductions could lower the contract price by a larger amount. Randy Darnell of CCS told the board the deductions are being evaluated and that final recommendations will be returned to the board, with staff expecting to present change orders at the July finance meeting.
The board also approved a lease amendment to relocate the health department to Midland Bank during construction and approved a separate contract with Mac Relocations for $17,930 to move the department’s offices. Becky (county staff) explained that the move to Midland Bank will allow the county to continue health department operations while the renovation proceeds.
Board members voted by roll call to approve the AIA contract; several members asked procedural and budget questions during the discussion and staff emphasized they will return with finalized change orders based on value-engineering work. The meeting record shows the county’s state's attorney will review the contract for final form before execution.
No additional policy directions were issued at the meeting; staff will return with finalized contract adjustments and a change order reflecting accepted deductions.
