A resident told the Jim Wells County commissioners court that final paperwork has been submitted for a pedestrian connectivity and accessibility project phase 2 and that the county should learn by October whether the grant is approved.
The comment, made during the court’s public testimony period, said phase 1 of the sidewalk work in Bembo has already been approved and that county residents are now awaiting word on phase 2. The statement drew no formal action from the court.
The resident said, “If I may, we just turned in our final paperwork for the, grant with textile with the pedestrian connectivity and accessibility project phase 2. So we should find out by October when the we got approved for it or not. So we already got approved for phase 1 for the sidewalk center in Bembo. Yeah. So we're working on a phase 2.”
No county staff member provided additional details during the meeting about the grant source, the project budget, or the work schedule; the court did not vote or issue a directive at that time. The resident requested the item be noted publicly but the record shows no subsequent agenda item or staff report at this meeting related to the application.
The court moved on to other agenda items after public testimony.
