Joseph DeBold, director of guidance for the Cornwall Central School District, recognized 33 members of the Class of 2025 who earned a community service diploma endorsement requiring 200 hours of service.
DeBold told the crowd the endorsement reflects sustained student commitment and used the story of Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation to illustrate small acts growing into larger movements. "When she first set up that lemonade stand, she didn't wait for someone to tell her what to do. She simply did what she could, where she was, with what she had," DeBold said, urging the graduates to act rather than wait.
DeBold noted the Class of 2025 surpassed recent years in service endorsements: "This class shattered it. 33 students from the class of 2025 have earned this honor." He read the names of the recipients during the ceremony. The students listed in the transcript were: Karis Addison; Zianya Aguilar; Katie Alvarez; Jacob Carter; Sofia Colarte; Jack Dimitrio; Yuki Dong; Milena Ellet; Gabriela Fazio; Emma Ferraro; Stella Galbraith; Andre Greco; Aislin Hogan; Tyler Lane; Madeline Larkin; Joshua Meekins; Abigail Merrill; Ryan Mili; Madeline News; Aidan O'Hara; Isabel O'Hara; Quentin Ojeda; Bryce Parker; Quinn Pekarski; Ava Rich; Emily Ruhan; Saray Stevenson; Maggie Sweeney; Gabriel Toombs; Courtney Wolf; Andrew Wu; Gabriel Yeboah; Darren Zhang.
DeBold emphasized the endorsement recognizes "quiet, consistent, and compassionate" service and said the students had helped build community capacity through volunteering and organized efforts. The recognition was presented in the course of the graduation ceremony; no additional district action regarding the endorsement was recorded in the transcript.
