Dublin City Schools approves design contracts and readies Bishop Elementary opening

The Dublin City Schools Board of Education approved contracts recommended by the Department of Operations to produce designs and bid documents for plumbing, asphalt and HVAC projects ahead of next summers construction work and confirmed plans for Bishop Elementarys opening.
Operations director Mister Stark told trustees the recommended contracts cover design and construction administration for plumbing work at Jerome Kaufman and Old Sawmill, a multi-year asphalt maintenance schedule (including a priority list and five-year plan), and HVAC engineering work for boilers, chillers and air-handling units at several buildings. Stark recommended AEC for plumbing design, Kleiningers group for asphalt assessment and scheduling, and Prater Engineering for HVAC design and public bidding.
Stark described the Riverside project as a two-summer effort: "This summer they're putting in the distribution system... next year, we pull out all the equipment in the back room." He said LED lighting and ceiling work are part of the current phase and that occupants will see improvements when the project completes.
Treasurer Mister Kern described a transfer on the agenda related to opening Bishop Elementary: principal funds from existing elementaries will seed Bishops principal fund for the coming school year. Stark and the superintendent said the district will host an open house for the community at 5 p.m. and a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at Bishop Elementary, followed by the board meeting at 6 p.m.
The board approved items 9a through 9c, covering the recommended design contracts and related actions, by roll call vote 5-0. The agenda also noted a $17,000 donation from Speer Mechanical for convocation T-shirts and that five roofs previously approved will proceed next year.
