Dublin City Schools board approves superintendents four-year contract through 2029

The Dublin City Schools Board of Education voted 5-0 to approve an addendum rehiring Dr. Marshhausen to a new contract of employment as superintendent effective Aug. 2, 2025, through July 31, 2029.

Board member Missus Rigby opened the boards remarks after the vote by praising Marshhausens leadership: "Dr. Marshhausen has been steadfast to lead the district in an accountable and measurable way. Journey 2030 is an example of his leadership as it incorporates planning, preparing, executing, and reflecting." Rigby said Marshhausen led the district through a successful levy campaign and that the superintendent "was tireless in his efforts to communicate and inform the community."

Dr. Marshhausen thanked the board for its confidence and described district leadership as an effort shared with the board and senior staff, saying, "When I talk about leadership in a school district, we talk about a leadership team being the seven of you plus Mr. Kern and myself." He said the district will continue to focus on student performance and adapt its five-year goals annually.

Board members moved and seconded the motion on the addendum: the motion was moved by Mister Valentine and seconded by Missus Gillis; the roll call showed five yes votes and no dissent. The motion language on the agenda recommended approval of "the attached addendum for the retire, rehire of Dr. Marshhausen and a new contract of employment for him to serve as superintendent of schools effective 08/02/2025 through 07/31/2029." The board approved that recommendation by roll call vote, 5-0.

Why it matters: Board members and the superintendent framed the rehire as continuity of leadership while flagging near-term challenges the district faces, including redistricting and changes in state funding that may affect future levy cycles. The board will receive regular updates and annual goal proposals at upcoming meetings.
