Superintendent previews preliminary test results, explains ParentVUE access and previews teacher training

The superintendent told the Clay County School Board on June 26 that preliminary state assessment information shows improvements in English language arts and highlighted tools for parents to review their children’s results.

“Weak” phrasing in the record aside, the superintendent said “every grade level in ELA went up from the previous year” and highlighted specific school gains cited during the presentation. He described math and science highlights — for example, the district’s sixth grade and certain junior high schools ranked highly in state comparisons — and said full statewide releases are expected by law no later than June 30.

The superintendent walked parents through how to view assessments in ParentVUE and the state’s parent information center. He told listeners the process requires a six‑digit family portal access code — “it’s not your lunch number” — plus the child’s first name and date of birth to sign in. He described the portal as providing item‑level breakdowns and standards‑level detail that parents can use to track progress.

On district operations, the superintendent summarized 1 Clay Leadership Academy training for administrators and teachers — more than 700 teachers attended winter/summer sessions that included school improvement planning — and said about 700 teachers completed a four‑day training. He also announced the district’s summer meal sites, reminded parents that teachers return Aug. 4 and students return Aug. 11, and discussed the district’s phased rollout of Apogee Rooms, a board‑approved two‑way communication tool designed to streamline parent‑school messaging.
