Before taking the final vote, the board provided an oral summary of the recommended amendment to Superintendent Dr. Sabrina Castro's contract as required by Government Code section 54953.
President Coronado read the summary into the record. The amendment described and read aloud by the board included these elements: an extension of the contract term by one year to June 30, 2028; entitlement for the superintendent to receive the same annual percentage increases as other certificated and management employees during the extended term; a 1% salary increase effective July 2024 consistent with increases provided to other employee groups for 2024–25; an additional 3% salary increase effective July 1, 2025 pursuant to the contract paragraph described in the record; and that the board retains discretion to establish a higher salary increase contingent on a satisfactory evaluation and applicable STRS regulations.
After the oral summary, the board voted on the amendment. On a hand vote to approve item 9.3, the motion carried 4-0.
No further conditions or contract language changes were reported in the meeting minutes; the superintendent and legal counsel were present for the reading of the summary.
