CalHFA board welcomes two new members from governor’s office appointments

The California Housing Finance Agency board on June 23 introduced two new board members attending their first meeting: Nick Hardeman, appointed by the governor to a public seat, and Natalie Koffel, attending as a delegate for Director Osefa from the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation.
Hardeman said he has served on three boards and worked roughly 20 years in the State Capitol, including time in legislative leadership offices and on housing policy such as SB 2 and the development of the most recent housing bond. “I’m very excited to be on this board,” Hardeman said, describing his background in state policy and work on zoning and streamlining bills.
Koffel said she began in homeless services with a Sacramento nonprofit that ran emergency shelters and permanent supportive housing, then practiced CEQA law and later joined the Office of Planning and Research and now the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation. Koffel said she worked on the Site Check tool “which allows developers and public agencies to see if a housing project might qualify for CEQA streamlining.” She said she was “excited to get to know more about housing finance here.”
Chair Miguel Cervantes welcomed the new members and said staff had provided orientation materials. The board did not take formal votes on the introductions.
