The Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals reserved decision and imposed conditions on a North Babylon renovation application after the applicant agreed to remove unpermitted structures and revise plans.
Babul Holador told the board he had purchased the house about a year earlier and proposed a new kitchen, an additional bathroom and to legalize a livable area in what had been used as garage space. During the hearing, board members negotiated changes that would help the proposal comply with lot-cover calculations and code requirements.
The board voted to remove variances numbered 6 through 9 from the application after Holador agreed to remove a shed and to lift pavers so that two feet of clearance would be maintained from all property lines, including two feet around the pool. The applicant agreed to resubmit revised plans showing the changes and updated lot coverage calculations. The board also imposed two use conditions: no cooking facilities permitted in the basement and no sleeping quarters permitted in the basement. The hearing was closed and decision reserved pending receipt of the revised plans.
The applicant said he would perform the work required to meet the conditions; the board will review the revised plans and updated calculations before making a final decision.
