Staff said the ADU bill has passed and “I think it's highly likely… the governor will probably sign it,” though staff added they had not spoken directly to the governor’s office.
The board also heard that a manufactured‑housing bill that would have broadened siting of manufactured homes in single‑family zones was killed for this session and may be reintroduced next year; Senate Bill 163 (restrictions on local moratoria or building‑permit limitations) did not advance, and Senate Bill 84, described as a far‑reaching zoning bill that would set maximum lot sizes, was retained for next year.
Staff said the board will need to review and update local ordinances, including the town’s ADU and affordable/workforce housing provisions, if the governor signs the ADU legislation. No ordinance changes were adopted at the meeting; staff said they will follow up with recommended changes as needed.
