County says inspections and pipe rehabs for EDA-funded phase will begin this summer

Kelsey provided an update on the county's levee/cross-pipe project: inspections and pipe rehabilitation work for roughly 23 cross pipes tied to an Economic Development Administration Phase 2 award are expected to begin in July.
Kelsey said the Army Corps of Engineers' semi-quantitative risk assessment (SQRA) has been completed and signed off, and staff are moving toward a feasibility study to define remediation steps. She credited interagency partners and said collaboration with city, state and federal partners has advanced the project to the field-inspection phase.
Commissioners praised Kelsey and staff for progress and said congressional and senatorial offices had helped with agency coordination. No construction contract was awarded at the meeting; staff said next steps include inspections, feasibility work and procurement for the rehabilitation phase.
