Dina Weatherly presented the request from Mariah Mitchell with organizers Amy and Joanna on the line; organizers said they hoped to use the same tent in place for the Stargazer gala the night before and expected roughly 75 to 100 attendees. The group asked to host a photography workshop and several arts and writing sessions; one organizer said a National Geographic photographer planned to run a photography workshop.
An organizer identified as Amy said the event would run about two hours and that the planned food truck would likely be Island Kitchen. Commission staff said food trucks require additional review and suggested conditioning the permit on successful coordination with food‑service and public‑safety requirements. Charlie noted the event would make efficient use of equipment already scheduled at the site and would not depend on the food truck to proceed.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the July 25 date and use of Tom Nevers Field, with staff instructed to confirm any food‑truck permissions before finalizing the permit. Dina Weatherly will follow up with the applicant and the licensing or permitting staff to confirm whether Island Kitchen may operate at the site.
