At the board's public-comment segment on June 24, resident Jerry Browner told the Hartsville-Trousdale Water & Sewer Utility Board that he has experienced muddy water and PVC shavings coming from his tap after line work and asked the utility to inspect.
"Every time they have to work on the line ... I get muddy water at my house," Browner said, describing multiple episodes and photos he offered to show the utility. He said particulate has damaged an ice maker and that he plans to install an inline filter at his own expense.
A board member asked staff to inspect Browner's meter to confirm it is operating properly and to check whether the customer's meter screen and any installed filter are functioning. "If I could ask the thing to actually look into his meter, make sure it's operating as it should be and with the filter that's supposed to be installed on it," the board member said. Staff acknowledged the request and said they would follow up.
The board did not take formal action during the meeting; staff indicated they would investigate Browner's complaint and report back to the board.
