Center School celebrates fifth-grade graduates in Mayfield School District ceremony

At a ceremony at Center School, fifth graders celebrated completing elementary school and preparing for middle school. A staff member opened the program and told students, “It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.”
The event included student speeches, homeroom presentations, musical performances and honors for volunteers and staff. Brenda Bonner, Mayfield Village mayor, addressed the audience, calling the graduation students’ “first major milestone” and urging them to develop skills, friendships and interests in the years ahead.
Students recognized dozens of teachers and staff by name and shared favorite memories from each grade. One student introduced a short reflection on the school’s former and current school resource officers and invited Officer Scott Siebel to speak. Officer Siebel described the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program and told the class, “Make smart choices, stay confident, and always stand up for what you learned there.”
Teachers and volunteers received formal thanks. A teacher recognized “our center volunteer crew,” saying 50 students had served as building volunteers this year, assisting with tasks from classroom support to office help. The program organizers also noted a video of the ceremony will be made available to families after school concludes.
The ceremony concluded with the students singing the national anthem, presentation of certificates and an invitation for families to gather for refreshments donated by the Center School Association (CSA). There were no recorded motions, votes or formal administrative decisions at the event.
