"She was just she she's in a wheelchair and not doing well," Lewis said. "She was accepted into Make A Wish program...She said, I'm gonna die without I'm gonna die invisible because nobody knows me. I don't know people at school because I've been out for so long." Lewis said Maggie asked to meet another student at Timberland who also uses a wheelchair.
The request came with urgency, Lewis said, because Maggie had recently resumed attending school after a long absence and "Trisha's trying to put together with the support or the help of the the parent, an event" and organizers feared she might not have much time. Lewis asked that board members and staff, including Brian, contact Burns and Timberland High School to plan what the school and district could do to help.
Staff member Brian (no last name provided) asked Lewis to email contact information; he said he would try to reach someone at Timberland, noting that "Mr. Link" (or "Dr. Link") — the school's principal, Lewis said — might be out of town. Lewis said he would send the contact details to Brian.
