The South Washington County Schools Board of Education voted June 26 to renew the district's membership in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) for the 2025–26 school year and adopted membership resolution forms for each high school.
Christine Schaefer, assistant superintendent, told the board the league requires annual board authorization for continued membership and said the packet included an update from the MSHSL executive director and membership resolution forms for the district's three high schools. "So at this time, I'd like to request school board approval for the South Washington County Schools continued membership in the Minnesota State High School League for the 20 five-twenty 6 school year," Schaefer said.
The resolution delegates control, supervision and regulation of league-sponsored athletic and fine-arts activities to the State High School League; it also says the district will adopt the league's constitution, bylaws and rules and assign supervision responsibility to school representatives, according to Schaefer.
The motion to approve was made by Eric Tessmer and recorded as seconded by "Luis." The board then took a roll-call vote; each member who spoke during the roll call voted yes and the chair announced the motion passed.
The board's approval fulfills the league's annual membership requirement and formally records the district's acceptance of the MSHSL constitution, bylaws and rules for the coming school year.
