Board approves personnel consent agenda; two long-serving employees announce retirements

The Westerville City Schools Board of Education on June 23 approved the personal-consent agenda that included resignations, hires, amended effective dates for reductions in force and retirement notices.
Chief Officer of Personnel and Policy-elect Scott Reeves presented the personal consent items. Reeves said the consent package included three classified resignations and three licensed resignations, two assistant-principal resignations (one at Westerville North and one at Westerville Central) and amended reductions in force that adjusted effective dates to July 1 so employees would not lose a day of contract pay. Reeves also noted one-time summer training pay for Hawthorne and Point View funded from federal Title funds and presented an attachment listing substitute pay rates for classified positions for 2025–26.
The board publicly recognized retirements: Timothy "Tim" O'Brien, who will retire at the end of the month after 35 years of service to the district, and Eric Nelson, a Westerville North math teacher retiring Jan. 1 with 31 years of service. Reeves said the two retirements represent 66 years of combined service to the district.
The board approved the personnel consent agenda and welcomed newly hired staff members — four classified and 12 licensed hires named on the consent list — and agreed to return with new assistant-principal hires for North and Central by the July 9 consent agenda.
Votes: The personnel consent agenda passed by recorded unanimous vote of members present.
