Lititz Borough Council voted June 24 to adopt an update to ordinance C‑618 amending chapter 115 of the borough code to align parking, vehicle and traffic rules with current practice and to improve sight distance at the North Walnut and West Lincoln intersection.
Taneya, who presented the ordinance language, said the changes “accurately document current policies and practices and to improve the site distance at the North Walnut and West Lincoln intersections.” She confirmed the ordinance had been advertised prior to the meeting.
Council discussion focused on operational details. One councilor asked whether the ordinance covers storage containers or moving pods; staff replied the update does not address those items and is limited to parking, enforcement clarifications and trailer attachment language. Another councilor questioned a provision that requires police to report violations to the mayor; the police representative said most routine parking enforcement is handled by the department and that the reporting language may be a leftover from earlier drafts. Council directed staff to consider whether the reporting language should be revised in a future amendment.
A motion to approve the ordinance passed with council members voting in favor. No amendments to the ordinance text were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The ordinance change will be enacted as adopted; staff will handle enforcement and return any proposed further edits to council if needed.
