Cloverdale proclaims June 2025 Pride Month; council agrees to consider flag‑policy change for library flagpole

The proclamation recognizes the history of the Stonewall uprising and describes Cloverdale’s LGBTQIA+ community as an “integral part of our community.” After the proclamation the council reached consensus to return to a future meeting with a proposal to amend the city’s flag policy to permit a commemorative Pride flag to be displayed at the Cloverdale Regional Library flagpole between June 1 and June 30.
City staff said the library flag request will be a future agenda item for formal consideration. No policy change was made at the meeting; council members asked staff to schedule the item for a future council agenda so the public and council can review the proposed amendment.
Public commenters praised the city’s first local Pride weekend and thanked the council for raising the Pride flag. “The city couldn’t have been a more welcoming place,” said Eric Trerery, a member of the Cloverdale Hill Arts Alliance, after the proclamation.
Council members who spoke at the meeting said they were encouraged by turnout at the flag‑raising and by community partners who organized the weekend events. The item to revise the flag policy will return to the council as a future agenda item for formal consideration and possible action.
