The Common Council voted to refer an ordinance amending chapter 34 of the construction code back to the Public Works Committee after a communication from Todd Carlson of Carlson Refrigeration asking for more time to meet the ordinance’s requirements.
Planning and Port Director CERC informed the council that Carlson Refrigeration had requested an extension. Councilors moved to send the item back to the Public Works Committee for further review; the motion passed by voice vote.
Two people had signed up to speak; one, identified as Chad, said he owns a small company in town and argued the ordinance had been in place for more than a year and a half and that there had been “more than enough time” for anyone interested in pursuing the license to comply. No formal change to the ordinance was adopted at the meeting; the committee referral will allow further consideration and any potential time extensions.
Council action was limited to the referral; the Public Works Committee will receive the ordinance and the communication from Carlson Refrigeration for further review.
