The Common Council adopted a preliminary resolution declaring the city’s intent to exercise special assessment powers to blacktop several alleys and set a public hearing for Sept. 16.
Public Works introduced a list of alley segments proposed for blacktopping (including locations between Baxter and Lambourne Avenues, North Sixtieth Street and Central Avenue, and other residential blocks). The council moved and seconded the resolution and set the public hearing date; a brief council comment thanked crews for recent street work in Billings Park.
The resolution begins the statutory special assessment process; staff will present project details, cost estimates and the proposed assessment apportionment at the scheduled public hearing. Residents affected by the proposed assessments will have an opportunity to comment at that hearing.
