Board approves RFP to explore GESA HVAC energy‑savings options

The property committee chair, Miss Sam, moved that the district begin an RFP process “to identify [an] energy‑savings company (ESCO) and provide options for consideration to begin the guaranteed payments” tied to a GESA related to HVAC. The chair told the board there is “no cost associated with this process that the district will incur.”
A second was called and the motion carried on a voice vote; the record shows the motion was approved and the property committee will continue the procurement work. The board noted a separate budget and finance meeting will discuss related budget issues on June 26.
Why it matters: a GESA/energy‑savings procurement can identify capital and operating savings from HVAC upgrades; the board’s approval only authorizes the procurement and does not obligate the district to a construction contract or financing until specific proposals are returned and separately approved.
