Board approves new hires, accepts longtime business teacher's retirement; assistant-principal role created as training path

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Board of Education on June 25 approved a slate of personnel items and honored retiring staff.
The board accepted the retirement of Kevin Goode, a business teacher at the high school, effective July 20; administrators thanked him for years of service. The board approved several certified and classified hires for 2025'1: new classroom teachers and summer staff, and named substitutes and support staff for summer programs. The board also approved supplemental assignments for coaches, advisors and department chairs.
Superintendent Jeff described a new, cost-neutral arrangement for Jason Black: Black, a district intervention specialist and head football coach, will take a part-time assistant-principal position while maintaining teaching duties so he can pursue an administrative license through the state's alternative pathway. Jeff said the arrangement will be year-to-year and intended to provide managerial experience at both the middle and high schools while Black completes credentialing.
Human-resources staff member Miss McCauley introduced several hires present at the meeting, including an elementary long-term substitute and new elementary art and physical-education teachers. Administrators said recruitment this cycle produced strong candidates and that a few positions remain to fill before the school year.
The consent agenda with these personnel items passed by roll call vote, 3'0yes, 0'no.
