Orange City schedules fireworks, contests June 28 at Valentine Park

Maddie McAllister, public information officer for the City of Orange City, announced the city’s largest summer celebration will begin Saturday, June 28 at 5 p.m. at Valentine Park, 1511 West French Avenue.
The event will include a pie-baking contest and a watermelon-eating contest, live music, two dedicated kids zones, and food and product vendors, McAllister said. The evening will close with a fireworks display "once the sun goes down," and city staff reminded attendees that coolers and smoking are prohibited in the event area.
McAllister, speaking on the city’s OC Minute program, also offered heat-safety reminders: stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, wear light clothing and sunscreen, and do not leave children or pets unattended in parked cars. "As our event and the upcoming holiday weekend approaches, remember, it's going to be hot, so stay cool while you enjoy the fun," she said.
The city did not provide additional details about parking, vendor lists or permit restrictions in the announcement. Attendees should check City of Orange City channels for further updates and logistics.
