The contracts approved include awards or acceptances for stone stockpiling (Canningville) and day-to-day stone operations (Martin Marietta); RS-2 oil, primer and tack (Asphalt Materials and Marathon); bulk fuel (Key Oil); blacktop (Scottie's); plastic pipe (Civilcon Inc. and Ohio County Farmer Garden); metal cover/tank work and steel pipe (two vendors including Silvergline Inc. and another firm); and solid-waste collection (Republic Services), which submitted the lowest responsive bid. Some items received no bids, including contract haul and concrete mix/in-place, and the court noted those items would require further action.
The magistrates recorded motions to accept the bids and carried the items by voice vote. During discussion of the blacktop award, a magistrate raised a quality concern, saying county crews had observed some remanufactured material in prior blacktop work and that the court should confirm material specifications before finalizing work under the new contract. The magistrates carried the blacktop award but requested staff follow up on the asphalt composition and material specifications with the vendor.
Other awards were approved without extended debate; the court confirmed lone bids where applicable and accepted multiple bids where price sheets reflected similar pricing. The court also accepted bids for diesel fuel and gasoline and noted that some items (electrical/HVAC service and other single-bid items) would proceed with the single vendor recommended.
