Council presses administration on recurring power outages; mayor says FirstEnergy meeting summary coming

Councilman Martin raised resident concerns about a pattern of power outages in parts of the city during the June 24 meeting and urged the administration to provide an explanation and action plan.
Martin told council that multiple residents and social media posts reported repeated outages across several streets and areas, saying the incidents appeared to be more frequent than expected for a city of Seven Hills’ size and age. He asked the administration to communicate what the city and the utility have identified, how many outages have occurred and what steps are planned to reduce them.
Mayor Villasciaga responded that administration had already met with a FirstEnergy representative following one recent outage. The mayor said, “I will ask for him to attend the announced council meeting, so they can give you a report on his findings,” and asked Service Director Bridal to prepare and forward a summary of that meeting to council by the end of the week. Villasciaga also said council should invite the FirstEnergy representative to a future meeting if the summary is insufficient.
On the record, council did not receive counts of outages, technical diagnoses or timelines for repairs; Martin asked for more information and an in-person report from the utility if the written summary does not address the council’s questions. The mayor directed staff to prepare the summary and to coordinate a possible appearance by FirstEnergy if council requests it.
