Metro Transit staff told the Transportation Commission on June 25 that a bus stop in Downtown Sun Prairie will be moved from Market Street to Main Street to avoid routine event closures at Market Street and to provide improved access to a nearby senior housing complex.
Mick (Metro staff) explained Market Street is regularly closed for events such as the farmer’s market; moving the stop to Main Street eliminates the need for repeated temporary sign postings and will run the route past a senior housing complex, increasing access for residents.
Commissioner Bill Bremer moved to approve the stop change; Denise Jeffs seconded. The commission approved the change by unanimous consent.
Metro staff said the relocation simplifies operations during summer events and provides an additional stop adjacent to senior housing; the change was placed on the consent agenda and approved during the June 25 meeting.
