Saucon Valley board approves Spring Math for K–4 and pilots eSpark for K–2

The Saucon Valley School District Board of Directors voted to implement the Spring Math intervention for all K–4 students and to pilot the eSpark adaptive-practice program in grades K–2, the board heard at its regular meeting.

Jamie Braxmire, a district staff member who led the elementary presentation, said the district will keep Math in Focus as its Tier 1 core curriculum and add Spring Math as a 15‑minute, class‑wide intervention during the district’s intervention period. “We are proposing tonight, that we pilot eSpark for the upcoming school years in grades K through 2 and that we move forward with implementing the Spring Math in all grades K through 4, during intervention time,” Braxmire said.

The change follows a year of work by a math lead team and a half‑year pilot. Braxmire told the board the district formed a core math lead team and partnered with a vendor identified in the packet as Patan to deliver professional development; teachers also piloted programs in the fourth quarter.
