Council authorizes $1.97 million Park Center streetscape contract

The Park City Council on June 24 authorized the mayor to finalize and execute a contract for streetscape and Reserve B improvements in the Park Center district after staff reported the low bid and funding plan.
Staff reported that three bids were received; the lowest combined bid came in at $1,969,687.67 from Prado Construction, above the engineer's estimate of $1,791,390. The project scope includes streetscape work and improvements for a Reserve B area within the Park Center District. The work is authorized to be funded by temporary financing and later paid from long-term general obligation bonds.
Staff recommended awarding the contract and asked the council to authorize the mayor to finalize the agreement after a charter ordinance takes effect July 1. Council approved the motion to award the contract; the vote was unanimous.
Council and staff did not raise substantive objections in the meeting record. City staff said the contract will be executed on or after July 1 and paid from the capital projects fund; the project will proceed following standard procurement and contracting procedures.
