Council adopts amended resolution 4-25, confirms slate of volunteers including Jay Lazard for bZAP

BEXLEY — The Bexley City Council on July 8 amended and then adopted Resolution 4-25 to confirm a cohort of volunteer appointments to the city’s boards and commissions, including a public introduction of Jay Lazard as a candidate for the Bexley Zoning and Planning Advisory Panel (bZAP).
Council President Hurley moved the amendment to Resolution 4-25 and Councilmember Marcelino seconded; the council recorded the motion and later adopted the amended resolution by roll call. The amendment passed and council then adopted the resolution in the same meeting.
The council introduced Jay Lazard before the vote. Lazard told the council, “I have been in Bexley since 02/2008,” and described his work history: “I started with international development, then moved on to our APAC development and then to the U.S. and kind of oversaw all of real estate and then all the construction.” Lazard said his children are getting older and he wanted to “serve and give back.”
Council members praised Lazard’s experience and enthusiasm. Councilmember Hurley said Lazard could help bZAP “take a more proactive role in doing the planning part of the ‘P’ that’s in the bZAP” and noted Lazard’s real estate background. Other councilmembers thanked Lazard for volunteering and commended his leadership and energy.
This week’s votes implemented the council’s long-standing practice of reviewing and confirming volunteers at council meetings. No public comments were offered on the resolution during the roll-call votes.
The adopted Resolution 4-25 will be archived with the city’s records of board and commission appointments; specific committee assignments and start dates will be posted by city staff as they become available.
